capt's kein and dave took the waller family from merrick long island out for dad jason's birthday gift from monica, his wife. we cancelled this adventure last year do to slow fishing and i was nervous about going this year, but you can't catch them at the dock. we had a beautiful ride out in the dark and we had bites right away. we landed 7 yellowfins to 50 lbs and lost another four or five. jason pulled the plug early and we had a smooth ride home with enough meat for everyone. we had a blast with these guys, and they will be back again next season.
capts kevin gerrity and dave bender took the miccio family along with matt and nick for an overnighter on july 21.
we trolled all afternoon and landed a 35 lb yellowfin and three throwbacks. we sent up at night for mako's and swords and at about 11 the shark rod goes screaming. after about an hour and a half of backing down we had the fish gaffed boatside. that was the easy part, it took another hour and six guys to get the 12' 926 pound mako through the tuna door. fish of a lifetime to say the least
capt's kevin and dave took anthony and john neglia out for a day of bluefin fishing. we had to run 74 miles to find some fish. we had five bites only landing two fish, one a nice 40lb yellowfin and a smaller bluefin. the day was perfect and the guys were great.
capt's jimmy gahm, kevin gerrity and dave bender too chris sanjurjo of nyc and friends out for a day of bluefin fishing. we arrived at the grounds at 4am knowing it would be a tougher day as the forecast was good and many guys would be going. we had our first bite around 9am and it was like the old cartoon with the cat eating the fish and holding up just the scale carcass, he somehow inhaled our ballyhoo and missed the hook. it was looking like the skunk flag was coming out of the closet, but we had another bite and this one stuck. seth and chris combined and did a fantastic job. these guys had a great time as did the three of us.
